About us and the House of Modern Vintage
The House of Modern Vintage philosophy is all about vintage style with a modern edge; helping you to put gorgeous pre-loved furniture and accessories together with your contemporary pieces in an easy and unpretentious way.
HOMV’s aim is to source twentieth century, classic and quirky designs as well as little-seen rarities whilst remaining affordable and accessible. Just as importantly it is also about being passionate and responsive to the C21st century sustainable home.
House of Modern Vintage is owned and run by Mary le Comte.
Mary is a former Victoria & Albert Museum Events and Programmes Manager with a sharp eye for finding great pieces of furniture and homeware. After 12 years of developing courses, study days, talks and events on art and design history, and working alongside artists, designers, curators and beautiful objects, she brings a real passion for design to House of Modern Vintage.
Mary is only too happy to share her knowledge and ideas about furniture and interiors, past and present. She has worked with many customers on interior design projects, has given design talks, managed many museum and arts public events, and run a bricks and mortar vintage shop. She knows what good communication involves and really enjoys the fun and inspiration a good discussion can generate.
Mary loves the fact that the pieces at House of Modern Vintage will often have a story behind them or spark a memory for someone; there is nothing more rewarding than seeing the next chapter in the object’s life as customers make a home for them in their own interiors.
