Coconut Chair by George Nelson for Vitra
The Coconut chair is a truly iconic piece of furniture created by American designer George Nelson. It was introduced in 1955 and, at the time had a big impact on design contemporary studios. The two chairs we have were beautifully made by Vitra in the early 2000's. Made with a white fibreglass, a firm padded layer, tan leather upholstery and stainless steel legs they are reminiscent of a coconut slice. Museums worldwide have this modern classic in their collections. They are striking, spacious, comfortable (firm) and super collectable.
Both have some wear as expected with their age. One does have damage to the leather on the corner of one arm, which could be repaired. They are priced accordingly.
