S33 Leather and Tubular Steel Frame Chair by Mart Stam

£0.00
Sold

The S33 chair, originally designed in 1927, was the very first cantilever chair to be designed in furniture history.

Inspired by gas piping, Mart Stam used bent tubular steel piping to create the frame of the chair, and this same technique and aesthetic was quickly adopted by the scholars of the Bauhaus design movement.
This chair is manufactured by Fasem in Italy for whom Stam designed. Both backrest and seat are made of rich tan brown leather with signature stitching and have the patina and marks expected on vintage leather.

Chair dimensions
Overall height (from floor to top of backrest): 84cm
Seat height: 49cm
Seat width: 46cm
Seat depth: 68cm
